Short answer
Maybe. Having applied is the knockout question that disqualifies the most people, so there's a high likelihood you won't be eligible. But there are situations where you can still be swept back in, depending on the insurance company and your exact circumstances. Don't assume you're out. Ask.

Different companies have different knockout questions, but the one that knocks out a lot of people is whether you've previously applied for a disability policy that requires health clearance. If you have, there's a high likelihood you won't be eligible for the GSI.
There are exceptions
There are some situations where even if you've applied, you may still be eligible for the GSI, depending on the insurance company and the exact set of circumstances. So don't think you're automatically disqualified. If you've already applied somewhere, reach out to me and I can let you know whether you fall into one of those exceptions.
If you haven't applied yet
Lock in the GSI policy first, before you answer health questions for any other disability policy. Applying for a medically underwritten policy first is the most common way people close the door on a GSI.
