Short answer
Not the ones I frequently come across. With the Guardian GSI, and with other companies too, there are no price increases or surcharges for getting the policy without health questions. The claim that GSI costs more usually comes from insurance professionals who can't offer it.

Very few insurance professionals have access to these special GSI policies. One of the myths that insurance professionals on the outside of these policies repeat is that they cost more money. That's factually incorrect.
What you actually get
With Guardian, and with other companies too, maybe not all of them, there are no price increases or surcharges on the GSI policies I see. The policy is individual and portable. You get it now and bring it with you for the next 20, 30 or 40 years.
The Guardian GSI also limits mental health claims to 24 months, and because of that limit, they give you an additional discount on the policy.
Start small, increase later
With these GSIs you can lock in a low-cost, low-coverage policy now that has the flex-up feature. When you mature personally or professionally and want more coverage, you can increase it.
